Background: Great potential for 3D printing

DHL Airways, a key player in air freight, recognized the need for 3D printing for the production of spare parts and customized components. To further advance the initiative, Süß & friends played a key role in building 3D printing capabilities locally and supporting the company in implementing this important project.

Task: To convey practical knowledge in 3D printing

The challenge was to design a practical training course for a diverse group of participants, ranging from beginners to experienced users. Süß & friends aimed to not only impart CAD skills, but also promote a comprehensive understanding of 3D printing technology and impart practical knowledge.

Solution: Seminar and design for 3D printing

In a two-day on-site seminar, not only fundamental principles and best practices were taught, but also a focus on practical applications. Each participant designed their own 3D-printed component under the guidance of Süß & friends. The workshop also covered print preparation, component identification, and economic and technical feasibility assessments.

Challenges: Different experiences with 3D printing

The different levels of knowledge of the participants presented a challenge. From beginners to experienced users, CAD skills and a deep understanding of 3D printing technology were imparted.

Customer benefit: Successful entry into 3D printing

The participants not only gained insights into best practices, but also overcame challenges and achieved immediate success by implementing their first real product. With a basic understanding of CAD, they can now continue learning independently. Süß & friends will continue to support the company in implementing 3D printing after the workshop through co-engineering and consulting.
