This is how additive manufacturing resulted in a groundbreaking product that improves laboratory processes. From idea to product with Süß & friends.

The spectrophotometer experts had a visionary idea to increase the efficiency of their measurement processes. After initial attempts at additive manufacturing failed, the team turned to the specialists at Süß & friends. A structured, collaborative development process resulted in a product that not only met the high functional requirements but also met the strict quality criteria.

Efficiency

The quick-and-click cell holder allows the next samples to be prepared outside the device while the device is still measuring (lean process). Different variants allow the freedom to use exactly the cell size and number that best suits the application.

Process stability

Positioning elements and clever design ensure only the correct positioning of the cell holders. This eliminates handling and operating errors from the design stage, increasing process stability. (Poka-Yoke principle)

By integrating NFC technology into the cell holders, samples are continuously recorded in the associated software. (Laboratory 4.0)

User experience

Haptic feedback in all work steps, ergonomically designed controls and many useful details such as the integrated tool holder were developed to ensure an optimal user experience for laboratory staff.

Why additive manufacturing?

Additive manufacturing is the production of products using professional 3D printing processes. This manufacturing group has unique advantages:

Additional complexity is free of charge

Through clever product design, we have integrated more functions and features, i.e. added value, into fewer components.

The product as a whole has become significantly simpler because it consists of fewer individual parts and more cost-effective standard and standard parts are used.

No investment in expensive injection molding tools

This allowed us to produce smaller batches, even individual components, cost-effectively. Even minor optimizations and adjustments could be implemented at any time. This allowed us to avoid design errors and continuously increase customer benefits.

High availability in supply chains

We have been able to optimize costs and delivery times to meet individual corporate goals and customer requirements. High flexibility and short response times enable us to react to unforeseen events. Costs and capital tied up in warehousing are avoided or significantly reduced through demand-driven production.

"Before we worked with Süß & friends, we had almost abandoned our plan to use additive manufacturing for our new product. Their high level of expertise and proactive product development made additive production possible despite the demanding requirements of our industry."
