THE BRUSH

The reinvention of humanity's oldest tool.

Perhaps older than humanity itself, the brush was invented by grasping some twigs. Has it changed significantly? What is your toothbrush, hairbrush or dishwashing brush other than a handful of plastic twigs? We took a single, flexible material and locally modified its mechanical properties by forming complex natural and geometric structures. The result is a multifunctional brush made from one material in one production step, which is only possible through 3D printing. A coral-like lamellar structure and an absorbent sponge structure are combined to form a cleaning head. The handle features an inner diamond structure for rigidity and a cellular surface on the handle. A water connection with sealing lips is integrated into the upper finger groove. When connected to an IKEA faucet, water is evenly flushed through the cleaning head.

suction nozzle

In machines for applying adhesives, which produce medication packaging, for example, the adhesive is in the form of granules. With our new concept, the granules can be conveyed through a single component operated with compressed air. This is only possible thanks to complex internal channels and structures that can only be produced using additive manufacturing. The 'suction conveyor nozzle' combines several functions in a single component and can be reproduced quickly and economically in small quantities.

Quick-Qlick cell holder system

The spectrophotometer professionals at EMCLAB Instruments had a visionary idea to increase the efficiency of the measurement processes. After initial attempts at additive manufacturing failed, the team turned to the specialists at Süß & friends.
In a structured joint development process, a product was created that not only meets the high functional requirements but also the strict quality criteria.

thread guide

WEBER Textilveredelungs GmbH is a leading manufacturer of quality yarns. The company had been having problems obtaining spare parts for the thread guide of a winding machine for some time. The thread guide kept breaking and spare parts were no longer available from the manufacturer. The solution was to completely rebuild the thread guide and reinforce the critical area. The result is a spare part that lasts much longer without the original weak point.

aluminum vehicle models

What is the essence of a car design? That was the basic question behind Trykda. The result is a minimalism that is not only evident in the form, but also in the color, material and technology. Trykda's vehicles do not compete with the objects in their environment, but are a style element in their own right. To achieve this, every technical and stylistic detail was gradually perfected using many 3D-printed prototypes. Only then was the product transferred to series production.

ball gripper

The transfer of ropes on a water ski cableway is carried out by the 'ball gripper'. Thanks to our new design, we were able to reduce the weight by 75%, increase reliability and minimize manufacturing costs. The basis for success is the rapid iteration process using inexpensive, additively manufactured functional prototypes. The component is now in series production worldwide.

control panel

A manufacturer of special machines wanted a modern solution for its control panels, which were previously made from simple sheet metal boxes. Using a combination of 3D printing and vacuum casting, we created a housing that meets the high technical and optical requirements. The individual design has enabled us to achieve a better user experience and intuitive usability. The control panel can be produced as a single piece or in small series at a much lower cost than with conventional processes.

Design housing for image recognition application

For a new type of image recognition application, the customer was looking for a suitable housing that would make the innovation and high performance of the device visible to the buyer from the outside. The housing, which was specially adapted to the electronic components, had to meet high aesthetic requirements. Süß & friends developed several design concepts that were presented to the customer and then developed into a final product. To achieve the most distinctive design possible, conventional manufacturing processes and materials were combined with the possibilities of 3D printing. This also enabled the cost-effective production of prototypes and the final product in small quantities.

flipchart clip

The flipchart designed by Fiume Interior sets the highest standards in terms of design, precision and functionality. The characteristic simplicity should also be reflected in the flipchart brackets. We quickly implemented the designer's concept sketches, first digitally and then as a prototype, and were thus able to guarantee an agile exchange about appearance and function. The prototypes made the design tangible and led to the rapid production of a pre-series.

spare part pump cover

In this project, a replacement part for a pump was developed and manufactured in a very short time. After reverse engineering the damaged original part and optimizing the component, printing was carried out using the Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) process. A special filament made of polyamide with carbon fibers was used as the material. The component therefore has a high level of strength while retaining impact resistance.

USB holder

Wakesys GmbH is a software manufacturer with a software package for access control, ticketing and cash register systems in water sports and also installs the necessary hardware such as RFID readers, turnstiles, etc. at the user's site. For the USB connection, a waterproof connector system for industrial applications is purchased from a large electronics manufacturer.
When system failures occurred that could be traced back to a malfunction of the USB holder in the purchased part, it was decided to produce this component ourselves according to our own requirements. Süß & friends was commissioned with the component optimization and development.
